The funeral of the late actress Kim Soo-mi was solemnly held on the morning of the 27th at Hanyang University Funeral Hall in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. Kim Soo-mi passed away on the morning of the 25th at the age of 75. She was transported by ambulance to Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital in a state of cardiac arrest at approximately 8:08 a.m. on that day, but was pronounced dead upon arrival. According to her family, it is known that cardiac arrest was caused by a hyperglycemic shock.
Amidst the release of the late Kim Soo-mi’s diary book, it is predicted to cause a ripple effect as it details the decisive process of her passing. On December 12th, the book titled “I Appeal to All Things that Kill Me,” which consists of entries written by Kim Soo-mi from 1983 to 2024 over 41 years, was published. Through this book, Kim Soo-mi candidly shared her life as an actress and the painful aspects of her life.
Kim Soo-mi, showing her determination to publish the book, wrote, “I am afraid of the impact that will hit my family after this book is published,” yet she added, “Having received the Lord, I have gained courage. I want to share my life philosophy with those who have decided to leave this world, and with the youth, as I’ve reached this age and position.”
The family of Kim Soo-mi decided to publicly share her diaries after witnessing her anguish during the final years of her life. Her daughter-in-law, actress Seo Hyo-rim, said, “Amid mother’s belongings, I discovered old diaries that revealed Kim Soo-mi’s life as a tender and fragile woman. As many people mourn, we will live well and repay the grace received.” The family plans to donate all proceeds from the book sales.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-mi’s sudden passing occurred on the morning of October 25th, with the cause being cardiac arrest due to hyperglycemic shock.
