DJ DOC’s Jeong Jaeyong has reunited with his ex-wife.
On the episode of Channel A’s ‘Dad is Middle-Aged’ that aired on the 15th, Jeong Jaeyong was shown meeting his ex-wife, Lee Suna, who is 19 years younger, for the first time in two years after their divorce.
Jeong Jaeyong expressed his feelings by saying, “I haven’t contacted Suna, the mother of my daughter, for two years. Today, I decided to meet her. I still have lingering feelings. I feel sorry, miss her, and have a lot of regrets.”
He mentioned a particular incident where he called his ex-wife to give something to their daughter but found out that her number had changed. He left a recorded message asking her to play it for their daughter, but since then, he hardly contacted her.
Jeong Jaeyong reminisced that his marriage life with Lee Suna was happy, mentioning that they never had a single argument until their divorce. He confessed that things went awry due to his pride. Despite that, he couldn’t hide his excitement about buying gifts for his daughter and ex-wife.
Although their meeting was not shown on the broadcast, Jeong Jaeyong shared that his ex-wife didn’t seem to dislike the idea of meeting him. He expressed his remorse by saying that he didn’t tell any lies and only thought about saying sorry. Lee Suna expressed discomfort with him reaching out or visiting to see their daughter before she comes looking for him.
Nevertheless, Jeong Jaeyong’s desire to see his daughter remained unwavering. He expressed his hope by saying, “If Suna, as the mother of our daughter, gives me one last chance to believe in me, I don’t want to make the same mistake again. I hope Suna can trust me a lot as a father for Suna from now on.”
However, the reaction from viewers who watched the broadcast was still cold. Many raised concerns that he did not provide financial support or contact his ex-wife before appearing on the show, questioning his sincerity. Some criticized his actions, stating that a father should fulfill his duties when he is around, and not providing even minimal child support while demanding forgiveness without making any effort for improvement is akin to violence.
Netizens commented on the situation saying, “If you didn’t provide financial support while being around, it means there was no conflict because you didn’t do anything,” “Saying ‘Now?’ is what I want to say,” and “Demanding to be forgiven without providing even the minimum child support while expressing a desire to see the child is like violence.”
