“Cleared of Sexual Assault Allegations → Divorce” Kim Gun-mo Makes a Comeback After 6 Years… Breaking Silence as the “Original Mom’s Diary” Star

Singer Kim Gun-mo is breaking his silence and making a comeback after six years.

The original ‘My Ugly Duckling,’ Kim Gun-mo, is finally returning. News of his nationwide tour concert has been officially revealed through ‘YES24 Tickets.’

Kim Gun-mo, who was considered the top choice for broadcasting, advertising, and performances, setting new viewership ratings records every week on SBS’s variety show ‘My Ugly Duckling,’ halted all activities following a controversy that arose at its peak in 2019. Although the incident was later revealed to be fabricated and he was cleared of charges, he remained silent for a long time.

However, his music continued during his hiatus. His influence was maintained through successive remakes by junior singers, continuous music streaming and reevaluation in new media, and numerous articles generated simply by mentioning his name in broadcasts, proving his strong connection with the public.

According to close associates, “He may have been away from the stage, but he never let go of his music for even a moment.” Given that he hasn’t granted a single interview in the past six years, there is significant interest in whether he will share his thoughts during this performance. Fans and the industry are keenly watching to see if the original ‘My Ugly Duckling’ Kim Gun-mo will continue his unique and lively activity path.

Meanwhile, concert production company iStar Media Company will open tickets exclusively on ‘YES24 Tickets’ on August 29th, Friday, for the ’25-26 Kim Gun-mo Live Tour ‘KIM GUN MO.’ The tour will commence in Busan on September 27th, followed by Daegu on October 18th, Daejeon on December 20th, and will expand to major cities nationwide, including Seoul, next year.

Kim Gun-mo halted his entertainment activities in 2019 after being accused of sexual assault. An employee from an entertainment establishment, known as A, alleged that Kim Gun-mo assaulted her in 2016 and filed a lawsuit against him, prompting his abrupt exit from SBS’s ‘My Ugly Duckling.’

However, the prosecution decided not to indict Kim Gun-mo in November 2021, two years after the accusation. A appealed this decision in June 2022, but her appeal was dismissed, and even subsequent judicial reconsideration was not accepted, thus concluding the case.

Separately, Kim Gun-mo married pianist Jang Ji-yeon in 2020, but announced their divorce approximately 2 years and 8 months later, drawing public sympathy once again.
