“Choi Jung-won ‘There Were 11 Women'” Another Revelation… Choi Jung-won’s Side “Groundless”

Choi Jung-won, a former member of the group UN and currently an actor, is refuting claims made by an individual referred to as “A,” who accused him of being an affair partner and publicly exposed his private life. Choi’s legal representative stated that although a lower court decision suggested an inappropriate relationship between Choi and “B,” A’s wife, during A and B’s divorce proceedings, B has appealed, so the judgment is not final.

Choi’s side argued that the initial ruling lacks concrete evidence and could be overturned. They denied A’s claims that Choi was involved in inappropriate relationships with multiple women, including “11 females,” as entirely baseless and warned of stern legal action against spreading false information.

Moreover, Choi’s legal team clarified that while all charges against Choi were cleared, A has been found guilty of several allegations in a criminal trial, including orchestrating defamation related to Choi’s personal relationships.

The saga began when A filed a lawsuit against Choi in December 2022, seeking damages over an alleged affair with B. Choi, however, denied any romantic involvement, describing his relationship with B as purely platonic, akin to a younger sibling he’d known since childhood. Subsequently, Choi filed countercharges against A for threats, defamation, insult, and inducement to defame.

The controversy resurfaced following a divorce ruling on December 4th, where the Seoul Family Court attributed the breakdown of the marriage to B’s misconduct and ordered her to compensate A with 30 million won. The court found that B’s actions, such as meeting and having physical contact with Choi under false pretenses, exacerbated marital discord.

A highlighted that the court ruling explicitly mentioned the affair between Choi and B, and contended that he has received numerous reports from alleged victims of Choi’s behavior. A also criticized Choi for what he called crocodile tears during an interview where Choi claimed to be unable to meet people due to social anxiety and panic disorder, arguing it contradicted his public interactions.

Lastly, A expressed his intentions to donate any damages received to charity, arguing that the lawsuit is not financially motivated despite Choi portraying it as such.
