Singer Baek Ji-young has disclosed why she sends her daughter to an international school. On the 5th, a video titled “What kind of academy does Baek Ji-young’s daughter, who attends an international school, go to? (Cheongdam-dong CEO moms)” was posted on Baek Ji-young’s YouTube channel.
In the video, Baek Ji-young met with parents of her daughter Haim’s friends who attend the same school. They discussed their children, school, and daily life. The working mothers mentioned that due to their busy schedules, they don’t have enough time to help their kids with their studies, so they created a ‘study group’ to assist their children’s learning.
Baek Ji-young explained, “As busy working moms, our biggest worry was helping our kids with their homework. They’re at an age where they should be getting into the habit of independently taking their homework out of their bags and doing it, but we can’t always manage that, so we decided to create this study group.”
Furthermore, Baek Ji-young mentioned that Fridays are the days for gatherings at her house, stating, “I feel like it’s more of a lively home when many kids gather. Since we only have one child, Fridays are when four kids come over.”
Baek Ji-young noted that both she and her husband had initially hoped for a son, humorously teasing her husband Jung Seok-won by saying that his mental age aligns well with playing with kids.
When asked by the production team where the children attend school, Baek Ji-young revealed that her daughter attends a Christian international school located in Gangnam-gu. Baek Ji-young candidly shared that she chose the international school because they had been unsuccessful with a private school application, which brought a bit of laughter.
She further explained that while looking for a better education, she wasn’t entirely convinced that private schooling was the best option. However, when they didn’t get into private school, she was in a bit of a panic and started considering international school. Conveniently, there was one just a minute away from their home, famed for its delicious meals and a favorable micro-environment that she appreciated, such as small class sizes with only 12 students per class.
Furthermore, Baek Ji-young also shared details about Haim’s activities, stating that she teaches her swimming, golf, and dance. When asked if she supports investing more in sports than academics for her child, Baek Ji-young confidently said she does. She recommended swimming as a must-learn sport and expressed her intention to eventually introduce Haim to jiu-jitsu for practical self-defense skills.
Baek Ji-young married actor Jung Seok-won in 2013, and they have a daughter named Haim.
