[Herald POP, Reporter Park Seo-hyun] Actress Seo Min-jung shared her thoughts on the 20th anniversary of ‘High Kick!’ On the 6th, Seo Min-jung expressed in her channel, “Hello~~ My daily life is really monotonous,” adding, “Being Ye-jin’s mom, Ginger’s mom, and Ahn-saem’s wife, my routine revolves around 3 to 5 places, and a year goes by quickly. Before I knew it, it’s already been 20 years since ‘High Kick!’ started.”
Seo Min-jung continued, “I wanted to share something, but there’s nothing significant, so I was embarrassed and delayed it, thinking you might find it boring. But starting two weeks ago, people who watched ‘High Kick!’ started sending DMs – two a day, ten… and gradually more, which I found so grateful. With so many dramas and movies in the past 20 years, people still watch ‘High Kick!’ repeatedly and remember me, reaching out on Instagram.”
Feeling emotional about those who reached out with messages, Seo Min-jung said, “Some people think my appearance in ‘High Kick!’ is how I look now, and I worry they might be disappointed. I briefly had a cute phase, which even feels unfamiliar to me,” she added, “Yesterday, students in New York said ‘I love High Kick’, ‘I love Seo Min-jung.’ I only nodded from afar, worried they’d be disappointed by my aged appearance, which made me feel sorry. I should have talked to them.”
Seo Min-jung shared that she feels happy and grateful reading each DM like a gift after finishing her day and promised to reply to all of them, even if late. Additionally, she posted a ‘High Kick!’ SNS Reels video edited by fans and jokingly mentioned, “This video is so nostalgic, I tried it with my dog Ginger, but he ran away scared. Thank you so much for remembering and reaching out to me after all this time. May you always be happy.”
‘High Kick!’, which aired from November 2006 to July 2007 on MBC, was a sitcom about a family’s everyday life and was incredibly popular at the time, gaining something of a cult status. Recently, ‘High Kick!’ videos resurfaced on online communities and SNS, garnering support and prompting Seo Min-jung to express her gratitude.
After ‘High Kick!’ ended in 2007, Seo Min-jung married her Korean-American husband and moved to New York. She made a brief return to television in 2017, appearing on MBC’s ‘King of Mask Singer’ and JTBC’s ‘Non-Summit.’ However, she ended her activities after ‘Problematic Men’ on KBS2 in 2019.
