BTS’s Jungkook, despite serving in the military, showcased his “Ami-Obsessed” persona with a heartfelt New Year’s greeting that overflowed with love for his fans. On January 8th, Jungkook greeted fans on the platform Weverse, starting with the message, “Hello, this is Jungkook ㅎ.” He expressed his deep longing for fans by saying, “It’s the year of my discharge and the year we meet, ARMY. However, I don’t feel any major change of heart; I’ve always felt this way. It’s just that I miss you even more.” He added, “Time seems to be passing quickly; I hope it goes faster because I miss you so much it’s a bit overwhelming.”
Jungkook achieved a double win at the “2024 Billboard Music Awards” (BBMAs), one of America’s top three popular music awards, with his album “GOLDEN” winning “Top K-Pop Album” and “Standing Next to You” winning “Top Global K-Pop Song.” Over two years, Jungkook won three trophies in total at the Billboard Music Awards, setting a record as the K-pop solo artist with the most awards (three).
At the “2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards,” another major American music awards, Jungkook was a double winner, taking home “K-Pop Artist of the Year” and “Best Music Video” with “Seven,” setting a record for the most awards for an Asian solo artist. Additionally, he made history as the first and only Asian artist to win “The Male Artist of the Year” at the “2024 People’s Choice Awards” (PCAs).
Jungkook also won the “Best Selling English Male Single” with his self-penned song “Never Let Go” at the “2024 China Year End Awards,” marking his sixth trophy at the event. Finally, on December 27th, at the “9th Asia Artist Awards” (AAA 2024) in Bangkok, Thailand, he won the “Best K-pop Record” award.
