The title “Low Birthrate and Aging Society Committee ‘I Hug You’ Video Contest” suggests that a committee focused on addressing issues related to low birthrates and an aging population is hosting a video contest themed “I Hug You.”

The Presidential Committee on Ageing Society and Population Policy is hosting a public video contest titled “Hug You,” which focuses on hugs between children and families. The contest runs from November 3 to 16. This initiative aims to promote positive perceptions of marriage, childbirth, and parenting while spreading a warm family culture throughout society.

Participants are required to create videos featuring hugs between children and their families and share them on their personal social media channels, such as Instagram and Facebook, using specified hashtags. They must then submit a Google Form available on the committee’s website, blog, or social media.

Jo Hyung-hwan, the committee’s vice-chairman, expressed hope that the contest would be a starting point for reaffirming and spreading family happiness. Since last year, the committee has been running a public promotion campaign titled “A Happy World for Me and My Child” to encourage positive perceptions of marriage, childbirth, and parenting. As a result, a series of public perception surveys from the committee showed an increase in positive perceptions and intentions regarding marriage and childbirth.

In appreciation, the first 2,000 participants will receive coffee vouchers, and outstanding entries—which will be used in advertisements—will earn a 300,000 won supermarket gift card. Excellent entries selected will also feature in the committee’s public advertising campaign.
