Homeplus, which is undergoing corporate rehabilitation, announced today (the 7th) that delays and reductions in deliveries from Seoul Dairy Cooperative and Nonghyup Economic Holdings are raising concerns about damage to farms. In response, the agricultural and livestock industry demanded an apology from Homeplus.
The Korean Agricultural and Livestock Association issued a statement saying, “Homeplus has unilaterally stopped deliveries from the agricultural and livestock sectors, including Nonghyup Economic Holdings and Seoul Dairy Cooperative, causing damage to secondary partners and farms. They suddenly demanded a forward-looking decision from the association,” and criticized that Homeplus was making desperate attempts to shift public criticism onto the agricultural and livestock sectors.
The association emphasized, “Suppliers from the agricultural and livestock sectors are continuing deliveries amid uncertainty. Homeplus should apologize to the nation’s farmers for the damage to the agricultural and livestock industries and present measures for normalizing operations to partnership companies and the public.”
Seoul Dairy also clarified, “Homeplus’s claims—that ‘Seoul Dairy demanded full cash payments for rehabilitation claims’ and ‘it is causing problems for secondary partners’—are not true.”
Nonghyup Economic Holdings strongly protested to Homeplus and reportedly plans to demand a correction of the press release from Homeplus.
