The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) announced today (the 13th) that it will operate an ‘Unfair Subcontracting Report Center’ ahead of this year’s Chuseok to ensure that small and medium subcontracting companies receive their payments on time.
The report center will be set up and operated for 50 days from the 14th of this month until October 2nd in 10 locations across 5 regions nationwide, including the Seoul metropolitan area (5 locations), Daejeon/Chungcheong region (2 locations), Busan/Gyeongnam region (1 location), Gwangju/Jeolla region (1 location), and Daegu/Gyeongbuk region (1 location).
Reports can be submitted through the FTC website (www.ftc.go.kr), by mail or fax, and phone consultations are also available. [http://www.ftc.go.kr]
The Subcontracting Division of the FTC (☎ 044-200-4590) is responsible for the overall management and consultation of the report center.
The FTC plans to request cooperation from major economic organizations such as the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Korea Employers Federation, the Korea Economic Federation, and the Korean Construction Association, as well as major companies, to ensure that subcontract payments are made in time before Chuseok.
The FTC explained that “reporters can receive assistance related to unpaid payments in a relatively short time through phone consultation alone, and the primary contractors, who are the subjects of the report, can resolve disputes before they become formal cases and thus avoid FTC sanctions.”
