(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Eun-kyung = Kim Ji-hyung, chairman of the Economic, Social and Labor Council, visited the Korea Employers Federation (KEF) on the 11th for his second official schedule after taking office, seeking cooperation to restore social dialogue.
On the morning of the same day, Chairman Kim visited the KEF building in Mapo-gu, Seoul, and held a meeting including an introductory session with Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik and other executives.
This visit was initiated to strengthen cooperation with the KEF, a key partner of the business community, on the occasion of Chairman Kim’s inauguration. Through this, it aimed to restore trust among labor, management, and government, as well as revive social dialogue.
In his greeting, Chairman Kim stated, “Since its establishment in 1970, the KEF has been a robust pillar at the forefront of our country’s industrialization and economic growth and a key partner in social dialogue.” He added, “When the KEF’s participation and wisdom are combined, social dialogue can grow in balance and sustainability.”
He further mentioned, “The complex crisis we face can be overcome through genuine dialogue based on restored trust and the active roles of participating entities.” He promised, “The Economic, Social and Labor Council will act as a facilitator of trust, serving as a ‘deliberative forum’ to balance and coordinate the voices of labor, management, and government.”
Chairman Kim previously visited the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) as his first official schedule after taking office and plans to hold sequential meetings with various labor and management organizations, along with public members of the Economic, Social and Labor Council.
