Starbucks payment amount rebounds in three weeks…signs of recovery

In the first week of June, Starbucks reported a payment amount of 24.2 billion KRW, showing a 12.8% increase. The app had 3.98 million weekly users, a 3.6% increase from the previous week. According to the data analytics company IGAWorks’ Mobile Index, from June 1st to 7th, Starbucks’ estimated weekly credit and debit card payments rebounded, showing signs of recovery. This is the largest amount since the controversy over “Tank Day” arose last month. The number of weekly users of the Starbucks app also increased by 3.6% to approximately 3.985 million, nearing 4 million. However, the payment amount is still about 7.95 billion KRW less than the 32.16 billion KRW from May 11th to 17th, prior to the “Tank Day” controversy. The industry is cautious, noting that while the decline seems to have subsided, they need to observe longer to confirm a full recovery.
