Some pet-friendly restaurants lack proper safety and hygiene management.

The government is currently conducting a regulatory sandbox pilot project that allows pets in restaurants, and it has been found that some restaurants have inadequate safety and hygiene management. According to a survey conducted by the Korea Consumer Agency and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on 19 restaurants in the metropolitan area that are either participating in the pilot project or arbitrarily allowing pets, 16 establishments had their kitchen entrances open, exposing food ingredients to contamination.

Furthermore, 7 restaurants did not take ventilation measures, such as opening windows, making it difficult to remove hair and odors inside, and 8 restaurants did not implement or guide pet movement restrictions, indicating a need for improvement.
