,
, ‘Equinor is aiming to win the offshore wind power generation project “Firefly Project” currently being pursued in the East Sea. This project involves the construction of a total of 50 15MW wind turbines offshore in the Ulsan coastal area, creating a 750MW floating offshore wind power complex, the world’s largest. The government plans to select a contractor through competitive bidding this year and aims to complete the project by the end of the year. Equinor has also established a special purpose company (SPC) called ‘Firefly Energy’ in 2021 for the project bidding.’,
,
, ‘If Equinor is ultimately selected as the contractor, Samsung Heavy Industries is expected to produce the substructures for the 50 15MW floating offshore wind power generation facilities to be deployed in the project and exclusively perform the marshaling work. Following the strategic cooperation agreement signed with Equinor in September 2022, Samsung Heavy Industries has been exploring ways to expand long-term cooperation through regular discussions. A Samsung Heavy Industries official stated, “We are expanding our collaboration with Equinor in various fields including offshore oil and gas development and offshore wind power generation.”‘,
