POSCO, in collaboration with a global consulting firm, initiates safety inspections in the construction sector.

POSCO Group has partnered with a global safety consulting firm to enhance safety management in the construction sector.

On the 2nd (local time), POSCO Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SGS, a safety consulting company, in Geneva, Switzerland. The purpose of the MOU is to review the safety systems of POSCO Group’s construction division in accordance with global safety standards and to derive effective solutions. Established in 1878, SGS is a consulting company specializing in safety diagnostics for construction and plants, and it marks its 147th anniversary this year.

SGS is also set to commence safety diagnostics for POSCO E&C, where four fatal accidents have occurred this year. They plan to evaluate processes, sites, and facilities according to international safety standards, assess risks, and recommend improvements. SGS will also collaborate on the installation and operation of a safety-specialized company that POSCO Group is pursuing, aiming to significantly reduce industrial accidents within the group.

Jang In-hwa, Chairman of POSCO Group, stated, “We will take the lead in dramatically raising POSCO Group’s safety standards and creating a workplace where all employees can work safely.”
