POSCO establishes a collaborative system for research and development of new UAM technologies.

Goyang City, Korean Air, and LIG Nex1 Sign MOU for Vertical Takeoff and Landing Vertiport Development

On October 25th, POSCO announced its initiative to establish a collaborative system for researching and developing new technologies in the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) sector, considered the future of transportation. During the opening ceremony of the ‘Goyang Drone and Urban Air Mobility Expo’ held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, POSCO signed a strategic cooperation agreement (MOU) aimed at the research and development of new technologies with Goyang City, Korean Air, LIG Nex1, and the Korea Aerospace University.

Through this agreement, the involved parties will mutually cooperate on using testbeds linked to UAM new technology development, promoting and invigorating the UAM industry in Goyang City, and providing advisory support for designating and operating UAM demonstration zones. In this collaboration, POSCO will undertake the development of structural technology required for constructing UAM vertiports, which are facilities where UAM vehicles can take off and land vertically. Developing vertiports with safety and economic viability is essential for the commercialization of UAM.
