“POSCO E&C has issued an official apology regarding the death of a worker at the construction site of the Sinansan Line double-track railway.
In a statement released on the 10th under the name of its executives and employees, POSCO E&C said, ‘We pray for the deceased’s soul to rest in peace and offer our deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family who have lost their precious loved one.’
The company added, ‘Although we have been conducting safety inspections across the entire Sinansan Line site with external experts, we painfully acknowledge that these measures were not sufficient. We will take all possible actions, including halting work, until safety is fully ensured.’
Furthermore, they stated, ‘We will provide full support to the bereaved families and all employees will take full responsibility to prevent such incidents from happening again.’
The previous day, a 35-year-old subcontract worker died after falling 15 meters while expanding an opening for cable tray installation at section 3-2 of the Sinansan Line in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, which is being constructed by POSCO E&C.”
