LG Display is accelerating its entry into the high-end gaming display market with gaming OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode). LG Display (034220) announced on the 29th that it will start mass-producing a 27-inch 480Hz QHD gaming OLED panel with the highest refresh rate and fastest response time among existing OLED panels.
Gaming displays are characterized by refresh rate, which is the number of images shown per second, and response time, which is the time it takes for the graphics card signal to be displayed on the screen. This product offers overwhelming gaming experience with LG Display’s OLED technology that illuminates each pixel without a backlight, providing immersive image quality along with a 480Hz ultra-high refresh rate, industry-leading 0.02ms response time, and QHD (2560×1440) resolution.
LG Display is the only one to achieve 480Hz among gaming OLEDs. A higher refresh rate allows smoother and sharper content rendering on fast-changing screens. With a GTG-standard response time of 0.02ms (milliseconds, 1ms = 1000th of a second), it set a new record by shortening from the previous best of 0.03ms to 0.01ms. A lower response time is advantageous for fast-reaction games like FPS (First-Person Shooter) and racing games.
Optimizing the WRGB (White, Red, Green, Blue) pixel structure enhances text readability compared to before when gaming or doing document work. Additionally, the 4-side borderless design minimizes the bezel width to maximize immersion.
LG Display is rapidly advancing in the gaming display market by offering a full lineup of gaming OLEDs ranging from 27 inches to 45 inches with proprietary technology.
Kang Won-seok, Head of Large Product Planning at LG Display, stated, “By providing differentiated customer value such as ultra-high refresh rate, fast response time, and ultra-high picture quality, we will secure leadership in the high-end gaming display market.”
