[KBS Jeju] Amidst the continued heatwave and tropical nights, last night at 8 PM, the maximum power demand in the Jeju area reached a record high of 1,113.8MW (megawatts), breaking the previous record.

At this time, the temperature in Jeju City was 30 degrees Celsius.

The previous highest power demand was recorded on August 11th two years ago at 8 PM, which was 1,104MW.

The Korea Power Exchange Jeju Branch stated that the reserve rate last night was 22.8%, ensuring stable power supply. However, with the heatwave and tropical nights continuing, the maximum power demand could set a new record again, and thus they requested the public to conserve energy use.
