Driving Range: Passenger 358km, Cargo 377km
Real Purchase Price: Passenger in the 30 million KRW range, Cargo in the 20 million KRW range,
, “Kia has unveiled the specifications and pricing for its first electric purpose-built vehicle (PBV), ‘The Kia PV5’ (PV5), and announced that contracts will begin on the 10th,” it said on the 9th.
‘PV5 is a mid-sized PBV developed based on the PBV dedicated electrification platform E-GMP.S for use in personal activities like travel and leisure, as well as commercial purposes such as logistics.’
“Under the definition of ‘more than just a vehicle,’ Kia developed the PV5 featuring a flat floor and spacious interior and cargo space.”
‘Additionally, the vehicle is designed to install various modules (upper body) on the basic body and platform according to customer requirements, allowing for the release of derivative models in the future.’
“Based on the ‘Flexible Body System,’ the PV5 with modular body components like the roof and doors offers ‘Passenger’ and ‘Cargo’ models initially, allowing seating arrangements and cargo capacity selection based on customer needs.”
‘The PV5 Passenger, in addition to movement, allows for leisure activities like car camping and picnics, focusing on enhancing ride convenience.’
‘The PV5 Passenger offers a spacious interior with a wheelbase of 2,995 mm and allows seat configurations in 1, 2, or 3 rows based on the number of passengers and purpose.’
‘The first released 5-seater 2-3-0 trim can expand its trunk capacity to a maximum of 2,310 L and features a large tray under the luggage board for storing various items.’
‘Moreover, the design includes a low floor layout for the elderly and disabled, reducing the second-row step height to 399 mm, and features a long assist handle on the B-pillar. The sliding door opening width is expanded to 775mm, allowing wheelchair passage.’
‘The PV5 Passenger is equipped with an electric motor providing a maximum power of 120kW, peak torque of 250Nm, and a 71.2kWh battery with a driving range of 358 km on a single charge. The energy efficiency is 4.5 km/kWh.’
‘For commercial purposes, the PV5 Cargo features a spacious cargo area with a low loading height. It is available in compact, long, and high-roof trims depending on the cargo capacity.’
‘For the Long trim, the PV5 Cargo has a length of 4,695 mm and can accommodate up to 4,420 L of cargo. The trunk opening width extends up to 1,343 mm.’
“The loading height is lowered to 419 mm for easier loading and unloading operations, and the dual-door rear can be adjusted for opening angles of 95 and 180 degrees. The ‘L-Track Mounting’ is applied in the cargo area to attach various equipment like lighting, nets, and fastening devices.”
‘The PV5 Cargo is offered in a long-range model with a 71.2kWh battery and a standard model with a 51.5kWh battery. The single-charge driving range is up to 377 km (energy efficiency 4.7 km/kWh) and 280 km (energy efficiency 4.8 km/kWh), respectively.’
, ‘Kia heavily equipped the PV5 with PBV-dedicated specialized features. It allows the use of an AAOS-based PBV-exclusive infotainment system and an app market that can install third-party applications, available for the first time in the Hyundai Motor Group.’
“The vehicle monitoring solution ‘PLeos Fleet,’ jointly developed by Hyundai Motor Group and 42dot, was applied for the first time. PLeos Fleet uses telematics technology to manage vehicle condition, driver analysis, and remote control without a separate terminal. Furthermore, standard electrification features like ‘i-Pedal 3.0’ and ‘Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0’ are included.”
‘Kia expects that, with electric vehicle tax benefits and subsidies, the Passenger and Cargo models can be purchased from the mid-30 million KRW and mid-20 million KRW range, respectively.’
‘Before applying electric vehicle tax benefits, the PV5’s selling price is set at 47,090,000 KRW for the Passenger model Basic and 50,000,000 KRW for the Plus. The Cargo model is 42,000,000 KRW for the Standard Basic and 44,700,000 KRW for the Long-Range Basic. (Based on 3.5% individual consumption tax, Cargo is tax-exempt)’
‘When considering electric vehicle tax benefits and government and municipal subsidies, it is expected that the Passenger model can be purchased from the mid-30 million KRW range and the Cargo model from the mid-20 million KRW range depending on the region.’
