Hyundai Motor Group Blocks Access to “DeepSeek” in China… Official Notice to Employees

**”Possibility of Information Leakage”**

Hyundai Motor Group’s major affiliates have fully restricted the use of the Chinese generative AI service ‘Deepsik.’

On the afternoon of the 7th, Hyundai and Kia sent an official notice to their employees at the Yangjae office in Seocho-gu, Seoul, announcing the blockage of access to Deepsik. This decision came after concerns were raised about the potential for information leakage through Deepsik. The companies discussed various measures before deciding on the access blockage for security reasons.

Other Hyundai Motor Group affiliates, including Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai Wia, Hyundai Glovis, and Hyundai Transys, also received similar notices, fully restricting employees’ use of Deepsik. The group plans to apply the same policy to its overseas operations soon.

Currently, various ministries in South Korea, including the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Unification, have limited access to Deepsik from computers with external access capabilities since the 5th.

Deepsik gained attention because it is distributed for free while offering performance and speed similar to OpenAI’s ‘o1.’ However, concerns about the Chinese government potentially accessing personal information collected by Deepsik have led to successive restrictions on access.
