Hyundai Construction wins double crown in the spatial category at the ‘K-Design Awards’.

The Olympic Park Forerun ‘Yewon’ and ‘Sayuwon’ by Hyundai Construction recently won the ‘Winner’ award in the ‘Space’ category at the ‘K-Design Award 2024’. The Forerun, a specialized garden within the Olympic Park created by Hyundai Construction, is the sole winner in the space category for a single collective housing project.

The K-Design Award, established in 2012, is considered one of the top 3 design awards in Asia along with Taiwan’s Golden Pin Design Award and Hong Kong’s Design for Asia Award. In order to select products with market competitiveness, the award goes through rigorous evaluation by more than 33 reputable judges from 10 countries. This year, 2627 products from 23 countries participated, and 313 works were awarded.

The winning work ‘Yewon (Artistic Bosque)’ combines rough and rugged natural materials with sophisticated sculptures to create an artistic and modern landscape. It received praise for its stainless steel mirror wall, 3D printing benches, and night-view reed installations in a beautiful oak forest setting with grass and gravel garden elements.

Another winning piece, ‘Sayuwon (Slow Garden),’ is a garden designed as a space for contemplation, combining neatly arranged greenery with overlapping shallow mounds to create a space where users can walk, stop, and contemplate. The garden features a variety of colors and textures with a unique arrangement of beolin nut trees on mounds made of subdued-colored pavements and dense green shrubbery.

Hyundai Construction has been recognized with multiple awards in the past three years from major international design competitions such as IDEA, iF, and Red Dot Design Awards, and being the first domestic construction company to be selected for the Good Design Awards in the U.S. They have proven their design competitiveness in various domestic and international design awards in the landscaping field.

A Hyundai Construction official stated, “We are delighted to be recognized for the excellence of our collective housing garden design at a prestigious design award representing Asia,” and expressed their commitment to enhancing the residential cultural quality of residents through sophisticated and environmentally friendly landscaping designs.
