Hyundai and Kia achieve another record-breaking performance… October U.S. sales up 17.4% year-over-year.

Hyundai Motor Company and Kia’s combined sales in the US market last month increased by 17.4% year-on-year, reaching 147,613 units. Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis all set a record for the highest October sales. The sales of hybrid cars set a new monthly record, significantly increasing the proportion of eco-friendly car sales.

Hyundai announced on the 4th that their US market sales last month increased by 18.3% year-on-year to 78,705 units. Among these, Genesis sold 6,903 units, which was a 20.6% increase over the same period. Kia recorded a 16.5% increase with 68,908 units sold.

Sales of high-value vehicles such as eco-friendly cars and RVs (recreational vehicles) led the performance. Last month, Genesis ‘GV80’ sales reached 2,446 units, the highest for the year, while Kia ‘K4’ also benefited from new car effects with 7,901 units sold. Among Hyundai models, ‘Sonata’ sales reached 6,300 units, a 156.1% increase year-on-year, and ‘Palisade’ (8,983 units) and ‘Tucson’ (19,829 units) also increased by 27% and 26.8%, respectively.

Notably, hybrid car sales increased by 64.9% to 21,679 units during the same period, setting a new monthly sales record, and the proportion of hybrid sales among total vehicles reached an all-time high at 14.7%. The ‘Tucson Hybrid’ recorded a 110.1% increase, selling 6,790 units, the highest for the year, while the Kia ‘Carnival Hybrid’ saw new car effects with 1,941 units sold.

Overall eco-friendly car sales increased by 52% to 31,668 units. The proportion of eco-friendly car sales among total vehicles increased by 4.9 percentage points to 21.5% compared to 16.6% in the same month last year. Electric vehicle sales increased by 30.3% to 9,985 units. Hyundai’s ‘Ioniq 5’ sales increased by 51% to 4,498 units, and Kia’s ‘EV9’ sold nearly 2,000 units, with 1,941 units sold.

A representative of Hyundai Motor Group stated, “There was a net increase in sales due to an increase in the number of business days (27 days),” noting, “Compared to October last year (25 business days), there were two more days, and compared to last September, which had the Labor Day holiday, there were four more days.”
