Gyeongbuk National University opens ‘Pet Blood Donation Center’ on campus… the first in a non-capital region.

“KNU I’M DOgNOR (I’M DOgNOR) Blood Donation Center,” the first pet blood donation center in the non-capital region, opened its doors at Kyungpook National University. On the 10th, Kyungpook National University held an opening ceremony for the center and a presentation for the “Pet Ambulance” at the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Animal Hospital. The event was attended by Lee In-joong, the Vice President of Research and Industry at Kyungpook National University, Lee Man-hwi, the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kyungpook National University, and Jung Yoo-seok, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor’s Domestic Business Department.

This blood donation center was established as part of the Hyundai Motor Company’s social contribution campaign “I’M DOgNOR” aimed at promoting a culture of proper pet blood donation. It was established based on a business agreement signed between Hyundai Motor Company and Kyungpook National University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in June. This is the second pet blood donation center established nationwide and the first in the non-capital region. Both institutions aim to secure healthy and diverse pet blood through the center, swiftly supply it, and ultimately resolve the issue of blood donation dogs being raised solely for blood supply.

The specially designed “Pet Ambulance,” converted from Hyundai Motor’s electric business platform “ST1,” will be operated to build an emergency medical infrastructure for pets.

Lee Man-hwi, the Dean of Kyungpook National University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, expressed expectations that the opening of this blood donation center will help secure healthy pet blood to provide better animal medical services. He also expressed hope that many pets will participate in blood donation to enhance pets’ safety and welfare in the future.
