**Seoul’s GS Construction Company Takes Initiative to Develop an Early Detection System for Electric Vehicle Fires**

With frequent incidents of significant damage caused by electric vehicle fires in apartment underground parking lots, GS Construction has embarked on developing an early detection system for these fires.

GS Construction announced on the 26th that it has signed a business agreement with LK Samyang for the ‘Development of an Early Detection System for Electric Vehicle Fires in Residential Complexes.’

The signing ceremony was attended by Yoo Yoon-hong, CEO of GS Construction, and Koo Bon-wook, CEO of LK Samyang.

Initially, the two companies plan to develop a system that allows the monitoring of the temperature under electric vehicles in real time, enabling quick responses by administrators in apartment parking lots.

The system will integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the existing CCTV-based control system to monitor fire risks throughout the parking area and provide real-time alerts. There are plans to develop a platform that integrates parking, security, and safety.

The two companies will embark on a 13-month joint research project aiming for commercialization by the second half of 2025.

GS Construction will analyze the thermal diffusion characteristics in the structure of electric vehicle batteries and the parking environment to verify the reliability of the undercarriage temperature detection system. The company also plans to develop design and construction technologies for field application.
