Doosan Robotics reports 7.9 billion won operating loss in the second quarter…deficit continues

[Seoul=Newsis] Doosan Robotics announced on the 25th that it recorded sales of 144 billion won and an operating loss of 7.9 billion won in the second quarter of this year.

Although sales increased by 10.1% compared to the same period last year, the operating loss also increased. The deficit widened compared to the 5.4 billion won loss in the same period last year.

The company explained that the slight increase in operating losses was due to participation in ‘Automate 2024’, commercialization of the software platform ‘Dart Suite’, and R&D costs related to depreciation.

Despite challenging external conditions such as sustained high interest rates and delays in the recovery of the European market, the demand for F&B-specialized cooperative robot E series, palletizing solutions, and barista solutions continued to grow in the second quarter. Particularly, with active sales and marketing activities by its North American subsidiary, sales in the North American region increased by 155% in the first half of this year.

It is forecasted that more than 40% of Doosan Robotics’ sales proportion will be generated from the North American region this year.

Doosan Robotics stated, “We plan to aggressively target the North American and European markets where demand for palletizing solutions is high by launching cooperative robot P series specialized in palletizing (P3020, payload 30kg, working radius 2030mm) for aligning or loading goods onto pallets in logistics and transportation processes by the end of this year.” Additionally, they stated, “We plan to expand our overseas market by adding a total of 28 new international sales channels, including 14 in North America, 8 in Europe, and 6 in APAC regions, and actively engage in investment and acquisition of core peripheral technology companies such as AMR, vision recognition, and AI.”
