“On the afternoon of the 13th, Choi Min-jeong, the daughter of SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, and Kevin Hwang, a U.S. Marine Reserve Officer of Chinese descent, held a wedding ceremony at the Vista Hall of the Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Given that the wedding was held after the ‘Century’s Divorce’ between Chairman Choi Tae-won and Noh So-young, the attention was focused on the ceremony.
The prospective groom, Hwang, who is of Chinese descent, was born in Indiana, USA, and graduated with an MBA from Harvard University and Stanford University. He is currently serving as a reserve officer in the U.S. Marine Reserve in California. Min-jeong, who enlisted as a naval officer candidate in 2014, and Hwang bonded over their common connection to the military and have now decided to tie the knot.
On this day, Chairman Choi and Director Noh met for the first time since their divorce. They were reportedly seated side by side at the bride’s parents’ table. Director Noh arrived at the venue around 11 a.m., two hours before the ceremony, while Chairman Choi entered through the third basement floor in a separate vehicle shortly after.
Family members and executives from SK Group, including Choi Jae-won, Vice Chairman, Choi Ki-won, Director of SK Happiness Sharing Foundation, Choi Shin-won, former SK Networks Chairman, Choi Chang-won, Chairman of SK Supeksu-chugu-hyup (Council), were also in attendance. Chairman Choi Shin-won, who met with reporters on this day, expressed his happiness about attending the wedding. Noh Jae-heon, the late Noh Tae-woo, former president’s son and director of the East Asia Cultural Center, was also present.
Business leaders, including Lee Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG, arrived first at 12:20 p.m. out of the four major conglomerate leaders. Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong entered just before the ceremony at 12:48 p.m. It was confirmed that Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Eui-sun received an invitation but could not attend due to other commitments.
Following them were Park Jung-won, Chairman of Doosan, Lee Jae-hyun, Chairman of CJ, Cho Hyun-joon, Chairman of Hyosung, Cho Hyun-sang, Vice Chairman of HS Hyosung, Kim Dong-kwan, Vice Chairman of Hanwha, Jung Ki-sun, Vice Chairman of HD Hyundai, Heo Yong-soo, CEO of GS Energy, Lee Woong-lyul, Honorary Chairman of Kolon, among others, who gathered to celebrate the wedding. Representatives from SK Group’s affiliate companies, including Park Sang-gyu, CEO of SK Innovation, Na Kyung-soo, CEO of SK Geo-Centric, Kwak No-jeong, CEO of SK Hynix, Lee Seok-hee, CEO of SK On, and Choo Hyung-wook, CEO of SK E&S, arrived one by one from noon onwards.
The wedding ceremony was conducted privately, with only guests who received invitations allowed to enter through controlled access points. It was reported that around 500 guests attended the wedding.
Some guests, including business leaders, entered through the underground parking lot and proceeded to the venue, while access through the underground entrance to the Vista Hall was also strictly controlled.”
