LG Display and Samsung Display confirmed their dominant positions at the ‘International Meeting on Information Display (IMID) 2024,’ considered one of the world’s largest display academic conferences. At the academic conference held in Seogwipo, Jeju on the 21st, LG Display was awarded the ‘IMID Display of the Year’ with a TV and gaming OLED panel featuring ‘Meta Technology 2.0’ technology. Meta Technology 2.0 is a technology that combines 424 billion micro lens array patterns ‘MLA+’ with brightness optimization and image quality enhancement algorithms. LG Display plans to present over 30 latest research papers during the academic conference, focusing on OLED performance improvement, manufacturing innovation through artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
Cheong Lee, the head of Samsung Display’s small and medium-sized business division, stated during the event that in the AI era of communicating through images and videos rather than text, Samsung Display, the strongest player in the OLED field, will lead the way. He also mentioned that they are developing technologies to reduce panel power consumption by eliminating or replacing all factors that influence it.
