Yoon couple arrested followed by Han Duk-soo’s summons on the 19th…”Thorough investigation into criminal responsibility”

The special investigation team is focusing on uncovering the involvement and abetment of the former Prime Minister, Han Deok-soo, in the illegal martial law proclamation by former President Yoon Seok-yeol, as well as the creation and disposal of documents related to martial law. Han is suspected of signing a post-December 3 martial law proclamation, ordering the disposal of documents, obstructing the parliamentary resolution to lift martial law, and perjury in the constitutional court and parliament. The team has gathered contextual evidence through searches at Han’s residence and office.

The investigation regarding former Minister of the Interior and Safety, Lee Sang-min, is nearing completion. The key issue is whether he failed to prevent the illegal martial law proclamation and allowed its progression during government meetings, thus involving charges of insurrectionary involvement and abuse of authority.

The investigation into the obstruction of the martial law lifting resolution by the People Power Party faces significant opposition, causing delays. Despite collaborative attempts, including visiting the party’s headquarters and requesting lists for comparison, these efforts were thwarted due to strong resistance from party members, who regard the actions as attempts to undermine the party. This resistance affects the investigation’s progress concerning the parliamentary aspects of the case.

Additionally, the special investigation team is advancing its probe into foreign exchange allegations, focusing on suspected organized military collusion regarding operations involving unmanned aircraft in Pyongyang. Several military officials, including a former drone operations commander, have been called in for questioning. The investigation is progressing, but further substantiation is needed before deciding on subsequent legal actions.
