As the hearing procedures for President Yoon Suk-yeol’s impeachment trial are concluded, the judges have entered the deliberation stage, with only the final decision announcement remaining.
There is also significant interest in whether the impeachment trial ruling, which will decide whether President Yoon will be removed from office, will be broadcast live.

The Constitutional Court has been holding almost daily deliberations, known as “considerations,” to exchange opinions on key issues of the case after concluding President Yoon’s impeachment trial hearings.
Even during the March 1st holiday, the review of related records is continuing to expedite the ruling.
There is also interest in whether the impeachment trial verdict, which will determine if the president is removed from office, will be broadcast live.
In President Yoon’s impeachment trial, two preliminary sessions and eleven hearings were conducted, but only recorded broadcasts have been allowed so far.
[Lee Jin / Constitutional Court Public Officer (December 18 of last year): Considering the need to maintain order in court and prevent disruptions inside and outside the court, we decided against live broadcasting.]
However, it is expected that the ruling will be broadcast live in consideration of the “gravity of the matter” and “public interest.”
In the past, during former President Roh Moo-hyun’s impeachment trial, it was the first time since the Constitutional Court’s establishment that the ruling process was broadcast live on TV and the internet.
[Yoon Young-chul / Former Constitutional Court Chief Justice (May 2004): Order. The impeachment request in this case is dismissed.]
The ruling for former President Park Geun-hye’s impeachment trial was also broadcast live, unlike the hearings.
[Lee Jung-mi / Acting Constitutional Court Chief Justice (March 2017): The ruling is announced with the unanimous consent of all judges. Order, the respondent President Park Geun-hye is removed from office.]
This time too, it seems the Constitutional Court will follow precedent, and whether live broadcasting will be permitted is expected to be announced when the ruling date is notified.
There is also interest in when the ruling date will be set.
While there remains the possibility of adjustment depending on the appointment of Moon Hyuk, the nominee for Constitutional Court Justice, considering past impeachment trial rulings were held within two weeks of the conclusion of hearings, it is speculated that the ruling will be scheduled around the 11th of this month.
