There will be no ‘CSAT cold wave’ this year… Rain forecasted for the afternoon in the Seoul metropolitan area and Yeongseo region of Gangwon Province on test day.

“On Saturday the 9th, at Uiam Park in Chuncheon, Gangwon, citizens are enjoying their day off. 2024.11.9 News1.”

It appears that this year’s college scholastic ability test (CSAT) will see rain, particularly in the capital region, instead of a cold wave.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 10th, the minimum temperature nationwide on the morning of the 11th is forecasted to be between 5 to 13 degrees Celsius, and the maximum daytime temperature between 16 to 23 degrees. This is expected to be 1 to 3 degrees warmer than the previous day (the 10th), continuing a mild weather trend. These temperatures are about 3 to 4 degrees higher than the average (minimum 2 to 11 degrees, maximum 13 to 19 degrees). However, the temperature difference between day and night is expected to be large, ranging from 10 to 15 degrees. On the 12th and 13th, temperatures are expected to be 6 to 14 degrees in the morning and 17 to 22 degrees in the afternoon, approximately 4 to 8 degrees higher than usual.

The Korea Meteorological Administration anticipates that the “CSAT cold snap,” which typically sees temperatures drop below freezing on test day, will not occur this year. On the 14th, generally cloudy skies are expected nationwide, with rain forecasted for the metropolitan area and Yeongseo region of Gangwon. There is an 80% chance of rain in the afternoon for Seoul and the metropolitan area, and a 70% chance for Yeongseo and Jeju Island. However, as there is no rain forecasted in the morning in these areas, examinees are not expected to experience inconvenience on their way to the exam centers. The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, “On the 14th, the minimum morning temperature nationwide will be 6 to 17 degrees, and the maximum daytime temperature will be 15 to 24 degrees, with mild weather continuing into the weekend.”
