As predictions surface about the impending Constitutional Court ruling on the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol, the police plan to declare the areas surrounding the court as ‘Special Crime Prevention Zones’ to maintain order and safety on the day of the announcement.
Police are also considering issuing a Level 1 alert, the highest emergency protocol, on the day the ruling is announced.

The police announced that they would declare the area around the Constitutional Court a ‘Special Crime Prevention Zone’ to manage crowds and maintain order on the day of the impeachment ruling against President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Acting Commissioner Park Hyun-soo of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said during a regular press briefing this morning held at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, “We will mobilize all available personnel.”
Consequently, on the day of the ruling, the areas of Jongno and Jungbu in Seoul will be divided into eight zones, each managed by eight precinct chiefs from Seoul’s police.
Under the command of the zone chiefs, personnel from the Criminal Mobility Unit and the Mobile Patrol Unit will be deployed for safety management.
Acting Commissioner Park Hyun-soo also mentioned that discussions are ongoing with the National Police Agency about declaring the highest emergency protocol, a Level 1 Alert.
Regarding the online community posts predicting violence at the court on the day of the ruling, it was explained that 60 such posts are under investigation and monitoring is ongoing.
Meanwhile, in reference to the investigation of a drug-related case involving a ruling party lawmaker’s child, it was stated that four individuals are being investigated and that the investigation and arrest process was routine despite criticisms of leniency.
Concerning the sexual assault allegation case involving former lawmaker Jang Je-won, it was disclosed that the complainant and witnesses have been interviewed, and the investigation is ongoing.
