The court permits the broadcasting of Han Duck-soo, former Prime Minister’s first treason trial.

Han Duck-soo, the former Prime Minister who is accused of abetting former President Yoon Seok-yeol’s acts of rebellion during the December 3 martial law, appeared at the Seoul Central District Court on the afternoon of August 27 for his pre-arrest interrogation (warrant review).

The trial of Han Duck-soo, who has been indicted on charges of abetting the rebellion leader, falsifying official documents, and other offenses, will be broadcasted.

This is the second time a lower court hearing related to the December 3 martial law involving former President Yoon Seok-yeol is being broadcasted.

The Criminal Agreement Section 33 of the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Judge Lee Jin-gwan, announced on the 29th that they would allow the special prosecutor’s request to broadcast the first trial session of former Prime Minister Han, scheduled for 10 a.m. on the 30th, related to charges including abetting the rebellion leader.

However, they will not broadcast the CCTV evidence examination part. The court explained that there was a request from the special prosecutor not to broadcast the trial, and not broadcasting that portion was in accordance with relevant legal provisions.

Therefore, excluding the CCTV evidence examination segment, the proceedings from the start to the end of the trial will be made available online with non-identification measures, such as audio removal and mosaicking.

Previously, former Prime Minister Han was indicted on charges of attempting to give an illegal martial law a legitimate appearance by convening a cabinet meeting and being involved in drafting the proclamation after hearing about the martial law declaration plan from former President Yoon last month on the 29th.
