The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials conducted a search and seizure at the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office today (24th) in relation to allegations of Lee Jeong-seop, a prosecutor at the Daejeon High Prosecutors’ Office, leaking civilian criminal records.
The 4th Investigation Division of the CIO sent prosecutors and investigators to the eastern district office this afternoon to review electronic data, such as the internal prosecutors’ office messenger, used by Prosecutor Lee during his tenure there from 2019 to 2020, and secured related materials.
Prosecutor Lee is accused of accessing the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office’s Criminal Justice Information System server to view the criminal records of individuals unrelated to investigative work, such as housekeepers and golf course employees, and leaking this information to his in-laws.
