The case of Kim Kun-hee’s additional indictment related to the ‘Unification Church collective entry’ has been assigned to the current court.

The incident involving allegations of mass membership of Unification Church members in the People Power Party and the subsequent additional indictment of Kim Keon-hee by the special prosecutor has been assigned to the court currently handling related cases.

The Seoul Central District Court has assigned the case involving charges against Kim and others, including Han Hak-ja, the leader of the Unification Church, and Jeon Seong-bae, also known as Geonjin Beopsa, for violating the Political Parties Act to the 27th Criminal Agreement Division.

This division is already handling most of the cases submitted by Special Prosecutor Min Joong-gi’s team, including Kim’s previously indicted case for violations of the Capital Markets Act and Representative Kwon Seong-dong’s case for violations of the Political Funds Act, dubbed as “religion-politics collusion” cases.

On the 9th, the special prosecutor indicted Kim and four others based on allegations that Unification Church members joined the People Power Party en masse to support a particular candidate in the party’s convention.

The special prosecutor concluded that in return for the support from the Unification Church, Kim promised government-level support and assembly member nominations.
