According to the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education on the 22nd, they received 1,013 applications for the ‘2026 Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Secondary School Teacher, Health, Librarian, Professional Counseling, Nutrition, Special Secondary Teacher Candidate Selection Competition Examination’, selecting 174 candidates for 18 general public subjects, resulting in an average competition rate of 5.82:1.

This competition rate is slightly lower compared to last year’s rate of 7.70:1, where 1,147 applications were received for 149 positions.

By subject, professional counseling had the highest competition rate with 74 applicants for 5 positions (14.80:1), while information and computer subjects had the lowest competition rate with 23 applicants for 9 positions (2.56:1).

Additionally, for private schools, 305 candidates applied for 22 positions across 11 corporations, with 253 applying for both public and private positions and 52 applying only for private positions.

The selection of successful candidates for the first stage of private school exams will involve choosing from those who failed the public school exams from the dual applicants and those who applied solely for private positions, with results notified to the private school corporations.

Meanwhile, the first exam for the 2026 Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Secondary Teacher appointment will be held on November 22, with the second exam scheduled for January 14 and January 20-21 of the following year, spanning a total of three days. The final results are set to be announced on February 5th of the following year.
