A tragedy has occurred where a teenage girl was found dead with bruises and wounds on her body, prompting a police investigation.
According to the police on the 30th, a report was received at around 4:50 PM on the 22nd from a hospital in Namhae County, Gyeongnam Province. The hospital staff suspected that the teenage girl had died due to a crime, as she had multiple bruises and wounds suggesting foul play.
The girl, referred to as A, was brought to the hospital by her biological mother, B (in her 40s). Although they arrived at the emergency room about 10 minutes before the report was made, A was already dead with no signs of breathing or pulse. The autopsy suggested that the bruises and wounds were likely caused by blunt force.
The police began their investigation and urgently arrested the mother, B, the following morning (the 23rd) on suspicion of abandonment leading to death. Despite having a duty to protect her daughter, she allegedly left the severely injured girl in her car, leading to her death. Two days later, the court issued an arrest warrant for B on the same charges.
It was established that the mother and daughter, who lived in another area of Gyeongnam Province, visited Namhae County on the 21st. B had traveled to Namhae for work, and her daughter accompanied her. B reportedly denies the charges, claiming that she found her daughter unconscious in the car while working and took her to the hospital.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, including who may have caused A’s injuries.
