The special prosecutor team led by Min Joong-ki has refused a request from a lawyer to share the suspect interrogation report of a public official from Yangpyeong County who died during the investigation.
The special prosecutor announced today (15th) via a press release that due to the death of the individual involved, the representation relationship with the lawyer has ended, and in accordance with relevant laws, they were compelled to reject the lawyer’s request to view and copy the documents.
They also added that if the suspect interrogation report were disclosed, it could potentially affect the ongoing investigation.
Previously, lawyer Park Kyung-ho, who was appointed the day before the official’s death, claimed coercive investigation tactics and requested access to the suspect interrogation report from the special prosecutor.
Lawyer Park stated at a press conference yesterday (14th) that after reviewing the deceased official’s interrogation report, he plans to file charges against the responsible investigators for abuse of authority, falsification of official documents, and cruel treatment.
