Residents Evacuated as Another ‘Mercedes-Benz Electric Car’ Catches Fire in Apartment Underground Parking Lot

On the 14th, a fire broke out in a Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle parked in the underground parking lot of an apartment in Asan, South Chungcheong Province. This incident, captured by YTN, caused dozens of residents to evacuate.

According to the South Chungcheong Fire Department, the fire occurred at around 2:14 a.m. in a Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle EQC400 parked in the apartment’s underground parking lot in Asan.

Responding to reports from residents, the fire authorities deployed 27 pieces of equipment, including fire trucks and asphyxiation extinguishing blankets, along with 85 firefighters, to completely extinguish the fire in about two hours.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, and the fire did not spread to other vehicles or buildings. However, at least dozens of apartment residents reportedly had to evacuate urgently due to the fire.

The electric vehicle that caught fire was a Mercedes-Benz EQC400 4MATIC model, which is reported to be equipped with domestically produced batteries.

The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
