‘Prosecutors investigating the suspicion of misuse of corporate credit cards in Gyeonggi-do have summoned former Democratic Party of Korea’s representative couple, Lee Jae-myung and his wife, to appear for questioning.
If Lee, the former representative, attends this time, it will be his seventh summons by prosecutors.

The Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office revealed that on the 4th, they demanded that Lee Jae-myung and his wife appear for questioning on charges of embezzlement.
The date of appearance has not been determined yet and will be decided through discussion.
The suspicion of ‘misusing Gyeonggi-do’s corporate credit cards’ first came to light when former Gyeonggi-do 7th rank public official, Jo Myung-hyun, reported it to the media.
It is alleged that for about a year from 2018, Lee, who was the governor at the time, and his wife, Kim Hye-kyung, had a public officer named Bae handle personal food expenses such as sandwiches and fruits, and make payments with a corporate credit card, misusing Gyeonggi-do’s budget for personal gain.
After investigating the case, the police referred it to the prosecution, revealing that the suspected amount of misuse of Bae’s corporate credit card amounts to 20 million won.

This is the first time prosecutors have demanded that Lee appear for questioning regarding the suspicion of misusing corporate credit cards.
If Lee attends the prosecution, it will be his seventh summons following the illegal sponsorship allegations with Seongnam FC and the suspicions of Wirye-Daejangdong development.
The Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office explained that it is a “standard investigative procedure based on law,” providing an opportunity for the parties to state their case.
Bae, who served as Kim Hye-kyung’s secretary, was indicted on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act related to this suspicion and was sentenced to a suspended prison term of two years and ten months.
