Progress of investigations by prosecutors and police can be viewed on mobile devices after verifying your identity.

Launch of Next-Generation Criminal Justice Information System

Prosecutors, police, and other investigative agencies will be able to access the progress of their cases submitted for investigation through mobile and online platforms via self-verification starting from the launch of the ‘Next-Generation Criminal Justice Information System (KICS)’ on the 19th. Previously, on the current criminal justice portal, accurate input of the investigative agency and case number was required for case inquiries to be possible.

Prosecutors, the Ministry of Justice, the Public Prosecutors’ Office, the National Police Agency, and the Korea Coast Guard have announced that the operation of KICS, which was initiated in December 2021, will begin from today. The address for KICS is kics.go.kr.

By using KICS, even crime victims can verify their identity and check the progress of investigations. Depending on the type of victimization, they can receive guidance on support systems and agencies. Witnesses to a case can undergo remote video questioning through KICS without directly visiting the Public Prosecutors’ Office.

Investigative agencies will be able to receive similar case documents such as interrogations, decisions, and judgments through KICS. Additionally, a new feature on KICS is the speech recognition-enabled document drafting function that automatically converts investigation details into text.
