“Porsche Driver in ‘Banpo Bridge Crash’ Ultimately Ends Up Behind Bars… ‘Concerns About Escape’ “

A 30-year-old female driver is now facing legal consequences after allegedly driving under the influence of drugs and crashing her luxury foreign car into a promenade near the Han River from Banpo Bridge late at night. On the 27th, the Seoul Western District Court conducted a pre-arrest interrogation for the suspect, known as “A,” on charges including driving under the influence of drugs. The court issued an arrest warrant, citing concerns over evidence destruction and flight risk.

On February 25th, around 8:44 PM, A was driving a Porsche SUV on Banpo Bridge when she broke through a railing and fell onto a promenade near the Hangang Bridge. The driver of a vehicle hit during the fall sustained minor injuries.

With the suspect now in custody, the police are focusing on investigating not only A’s drug-impaired driving but also how she acquired the drugs in question. A large quantity of empty propofol bottles, prefilled syringes, and medical tubes were found in A’s car, and she reportedly admitted to the allegations during police questioning.

The Korean Medical Association has called for a thorough and unreserved investigation by the police into the source, distribution, prescription, and management processes of the drugs. They also stated that if any medical professionals were involved in the illegal distribution of narcotic drugs, such actions could severely undermine public trust in the profession, and therefore, the association will take steps to condemn any such involvement.
