Police Conduct Additional Investigation on May 18 Merit Awardees in Relation to ‘Starbucks Tank Day Controversy’

In connection with the controversy over Starbucks’ “Tank Day,” the police are conducting additional investigations targeting the plaintiffs who are honorees of the May 18 Democratization Movement.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Public Crime Investigation Unit announced that they would summon five individuals, including Park Ha-sung, an honoree of the May 18 Democratization Movement who filed a complaint against Chung Yong-jin, chairman of Shinsegae Group, and others, for questioning at the Gwangju Southern Police Station today (25th) at 3 PM.

It is reported that Park had already undergone a round of questioning on the 21st and is now facing a second investigation.

Previously, Park and others filed a complaint against Chung Yong-jin, chairman of Shinsegae Group, and Sohn Jeong-hyeon, former CEO of Starbucks Korea, accusing them of defaming and distorting the May 18 Democratization Movement, and charged them with insults and violations of special laws related to the movement.
