Student Claims Laptop Loss Led to Account Sharing Explicit Content
A student’s account at Ulsan University was found distributing dozens of explicit materials in a group chat, prompting a police investigation.
According to Ulsan Police Agency and university officials, early morning on April 3rd, approximately 40 pieces of explicit content were shared in the group chat for new students in the A department.
Photos and videos revealing partial nudity of women were circulated among the 280 members of the chat. The content was uploaded using an account belonging to a freshman known as Student B. The uploader included a message stating there were many “self-captured” videos and encouraged direct messages for more.
Once the incident came to light, the student council swiftly shut down the chat group and reported it to the university’s Human Rights Center.
The university has filed a complaint against Student B with the police, who are currently investigating the incident.
Student B reportedly told the university authorities that their laptop was lost about a month ago, which led to the incident. The university is also investigating if any of its students are victims of the dissemination.
