[Mokpo=Newsis] Mokpo City won the Grand Prize for the Best Travel Destination of the Year in the 2024 SRT Awards, solidifying its status as a representative tourist city in South Korea for the fifth consecutive year, as announced on the 18th.
SRT Magazine, which operates within SRT trains, has been hosting the SRT Awards to select the best domestic travel destinations since 2018. Mokpo City has been selected as the top travel destination every year since 2020 and was once again listed among the top 10 travel cities this year.
This year’s selection involved competition among 55 cities nationwide. It was conducted through a direct evaluation by over 12,000 readers of SRT Magazine in September, along with assessments by travel writers and journalists, editor ratings, analysis of visitor database data, and evaluations of the convenience of online and offline promotional materials.
Mokpo was recognized as a leading travel hub in Korea for showcasing various charms, such as the Mokpo Maritime Cable Car, which offers the country’s best maritime panorama, the new attraction Skywalk over the Daebandong waterfront, and the cultural branding of Mokpo, the city of arts.
Mayor Park Hong-ryul of Mokpo stated, “Winning the Grand Prize for five consecutive years is proof of Mokpo’s tourism competitiveness. We will do our best to further enhance Mokpo’s unique appeal and establish it as South Korea’s top tourist city in 2025.”
