Singer Jessi (35) has expressed that she is “not acquainted with the assailant” in relation to a fan assault incident, while it is being claimed that she experienced a similar situation in the past.
On October 16, JTBC’s “Incident Commander” introduced the story of informant A, who was involved in a scuffle with Jessi’s group at a club in Itaewon in 2013.
A, a Korean-American, reportedly visited a club in Itaewon in May 2013 before returning to the U.S. He stated that a confrontation arose with Jessi and her group. A described the incident, saying, “I encountered her in the club bathroom, offered to let her go first, but was inexplicably provoked and hit,” adding, “Jessi and her friends attacked me and attempted to push my face into a toilet.”
Although A filed a lawsuit against Jessi and her group, Jessi claimed innocence, stating, “I only tried to stop the fight between my friends and the other party; I never hit anyone.”
Later, the informant withdrew the lawsuit against Jessi and left for the U.S., while a report emerged in Korea implying that the informant had retracted the lawsuit and acknowledged that Jessi did not participate in the assault.
Regarding this report, A refuted, “It’s entirely untrue,” and maintained, “I never acknowledged that Jessi didn’t hit me. She definitely did.”
A explained that due to work and travel preparations, he had to withdraw the lawsuit since it could take a year for a verdict, making it difficult to leave the country while the suit was ongoing.
Reflecting on the recent assault incident involving Jessi’s group, A criticized, “Jessi’s side claims the assailant has left Korea. It was the same in the past,” and derisively commented, “They’re saying the assailant is Chinese? That’s ridiculous.”
In a previous incident on September 29, a minor fan requested a photo with Jessi in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, but was assaulted by a male companion of Jessi’s group. Jessi’s group left the scene without taking any action, and the incident became controversial once it was later revealed.
On October 16, around 10:05 PM, Jessi appeared at the Gangnam Police Station as a suspect, expressing, “I hope the person who hit the fan is found quickly and punished,” and stated, “I will speak truthfully and leave.”
