Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of the Sarang Jeil Church, who has been identified as a secondary figure in a violent riot incident at the Seoul Western District Court, appeared at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency as a suspect on the morning of the 18th, 10 months after the incident. On his way to the police interrogation, Jeon stated that the church had no relation to the court incident, emphasizing that during protests the day before the incident, he had strongly advised against any clashes with the police.
Regarding allegations that he financially supported participants in the riot using church funds, Jeon clarified that he could not have interfered with church finances, as he retired from his position as a pastor five years ago. Furthermore, he denied accusations of using religious influence to psychologically manipulate (gaslight) believers.
Jeon is facing charges related to the Seoul Western District Court incident, including special trespassing and instigation of obstructing the execution of special duties.
