Jang Kyung-tae counter-sues accuser for ‘false accusation’ in sexual harassment case

Democratic Party lawmaker Jang Kyung-tae has counter-sued the woman who accused him of sexual harassment, alleging false accusation. On the morning of December 2, Jang visited the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to file charges of false accusation and assault against the accuser, identified as Ms. A, who had previously filed charges against Jang for quasi-compulsory indecent assault. Jang also filed a complaint against Mr. B, who was Ms. A’s boyfriend, for the same charges.

The Women and Juvenile Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is currently investigating the quasi-compulsory indecent assault allegations against Jang. The accuser claims that Jang harassed her at a gathering in Seoul late last year. The complaint was initially filed with the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station on November 25, and the case was transferred to the Seoul Metropolitan Police on the 26th for further investigation.

Police have secured CCTV footage from the venue where the incident allegedly occurred and plan to proceed with questioning the accuser soon. Investigations are also being scheduled for other attendees present at the scene.

In response to these allegations, Jang has maintained that the accusations are unfounded and announced his intention to take strong legal action against what he described as false accusations. On November 30, he held an emergency press conference, claiming that the issue had been distorted by some misleading media reports.
