Gunpo City to Conduct Intensive Safety Inspections at 72 Disaster-Vulnerable Facilities, Including Construction Sites

[Gunpo=Newsis] Reporter Park Seok-hee reports that Gunpo City in Gyeonggi Province has announced on the 11th that it will conduct a “focused safety inspection” this year to eliminate safety blind spots in daily life and encourage residents to conduct voluntary safety checks. The inspection will be carried out from the 14th to June 13th.

The focused safety inspection aims to identify and improve various facility defects and safety risks in daily life in advance, encouraging residents to perform voluntary safety checks while establishing a culture of safety in daily life. It is a preventive social safety campaign.

This year, inspections will cover 72 locations, including construction sites, aging buildings, bridges, battery manufacturers, factory facilities, nursing homes, national heritage sites, and multi-use facilities. The inspections will ensure the safety of the facilities, and if necessary, swift repair and reinforcement measures will be undertaken.

Based on the inspection results, efforts will be made to improve risk factors and ensure continuous post-management to create a reassuring living environment for citizens. The city will also focus on enhancing citizens’ perception of safety by operating a resident inspection application system, allowing citizens to identify and apply for inspections themselves.

In addition, residents can request inspections for facilities that are feared to be prone to disasters or accidents. Citizens in need can apply through online platforms such as the Safety Report App and portals, or by visiting administrative welfare centers, until May 30th.

Mayor Ha Eun-ho of Gunpo City stated, “Through this inspection, we will eliminate potential risk factors in everyday life in advance and strive to ensure comprehensive prevention and management, leaving no blind spots in citizen safety while promoting residents’ voluntary practice of safety culture.”

Gunpo City is actively working on preventing safety accidents and promoting a culture of safety by conducting annual safety inspections on vulnerable facilities within its jurisdiction.
