On the 15th, an Air Seoul aircraft scheduled to depart from Jeju to Gimpo had to stop on the runway when the emergency evacuation slide deployed. This incident was caused by a passenger opening the emergency exit inside the aircraft, causing a delay in departure.
Around 8:15 a.m. on the 15th, a female passenger in her 30s opened the emergency exit of Air Seoul flight RS902, which was preparing for takeoff from Jeju to Gimpo. As a result, the emergency evacuation slide deployed, rendering the aircraft immobile and leading to its towing to the parking apron, resulting in the cancellation of the flight.
The passenger reportedly opened the door because she felt ‘stifled.’ According to the police, she ran to the emergency exit and opened it while the aircraft was in motion. The flight attendants apprehended her on the spot and handed her over to the police. The police stated that the passenger had received psychiatric treatment and mentioned that she would be booked on charges of violating the Aviation Security Act.
The aircraft was originally scheduled to depart at 8:10 a.m. with over 200 passengers heading to Gimpo Airport.
